Today marks Day 2 of "No Tech Boot Camp". Yep...two weeks of no technology for Mighty Max. Should be interesting!
The reason? Well, lately Max has been having very little interest in playing or interacting with others. Even though we have just about every cool toy you can imagine AND a mom who would LOVE to play, he almost always chooses to stay in his own little world with his iPad.
Sometimes I have thought it was a good "escape" for a little man who struggled so much to communicate and handle the confusing world around him. I wanted to allow him to have control over this one area. He can choose his own videos...his own games...etc. However, his escape has become too much a part of his life lately...and it truly is like an addiction for him.
Additionally he has been having increased behavior issues lately. So in discussions with one of his speech therapists yesterday (she also has become a wonderful friend and trusted confidante/mentor on this journey with Max), she suggested going cold turkey with Max. After much discussion, I came on board and I am now excited about this challenge.
Last night and this morning were absolute successes...which was astounding! But I know there are going to be many rough patches and I am hoping to stay strong and focused in this boot camp.
Wish us luck! :)))
