Happy 5th Birthday Mighty Max!
Oh my sweet Maxwell,
Five years ago today on June 22, 2005, we finally met face to face...what an amazing moment. You were so beautiful and I just wanted to hold and love you forever and ever.
After a month on hospital bedrest and then a grueling labor (seriously Max, what was that all about?), you had finally made your way into the world. You made no sound and the team immediately rushed around you. I vividly remember asking "is everything ok?" and fearfully questioning "is he alive?" There was a team of about 15 nurses and doctors in the room working on us...and no one answered me. Not a good sign.
After they intubated you, they brought you to me for one quick kiss and then whisked you away to the NICU.
Little did I know that our roller coaster ride had just begun...
As crazy as some of this journey has been, I wouldn't trade one moment of our lives together Maxwell. (And I hope you agree!) It's not always going to be easy, but I know it will always be interesting.
You are an excellent teacher of patience, unconditional love, perseverance, acceptance, simple pleasures, and faith. I will always be grateful for these lessons, and I know that is just the beginning. You are absolutely amazing, adorable, precious, silly, strong, fun, and truly unique.
Thank you for being YOU. Happy birthday sweet boy!
P.S. Excited to take you out for a fun celebration today! :)
