surgery update

Maxwell's surgery was a success, but the first 24 hours of recovery has definitely been a challenge.

The amazing surgeon, Dr. Sie, was able to complete all four tasks: removal of tonsils and adenoids; insertion of ear tubes; nasal dilation; and partial reconstruction of the right ear.

With all that work, Max certainly has every right to be upset. And oh boy was he! Despite the drugs, he was so uncomfortable...and it just broke my heart. He kept all the nurses and doctors on his toes by turning blue multiple times. His nurse called a code on him and the whole crew rushed in. Fortunately I was right there and was able to explain this is Max's "norm." But with everyone wanting to work on him, he got even more upset. Needless to say, they kept all the emergency supplies out and ready to go.

Oh my lil' man certainly knows how to make everything exciting!

Sorry it's been a rough 24 hours... glad to know they were able to get all that they wanted done under one anesthesia.

SO glad the "code" wasn't really a code and that above all, you knew it... that can be so scary. And... above all, despite his surgical beating, I am so glad that Max is opinionated and head-strong enough to be that furious with all the interference! :-) A strong will is a good thing!

Amy, I hope that your mamaheart is healing from all of this right along with Max's ears, nose and throat.

Thinking of you!

No fun for a rough 24 hours but so glad to hear all of that was taken care of for him at once! Way to keep them on their toes Max (glad to hear you knew it wasn't a true coding). Hope you have a very speedy recovery :O)

What a trooper you are Max! That is quite a bit for one day, but glad it was all able to happen at one time. And good for you for keeping the doctors and nurses on their toes! Hope you are feeling well and back to your goofy self soon! Sending love and hugs your way.

Oh poor sweet Max, I hope you are feeling better. Your head band looks better then the one they put on Eva's head after her ear surgery.
I am glad its all over and you sure do know how to keep them on their toes Maxwell.
Hugs,

I'm so glad Max's surgery went well, but am sorry to hear he had such a rough 24 hours of recovery. It's so hard to see our kids in pain like that and know there's nothing we can do to help. I hope Max is feeling better now and that the tubes and T&A help.

Hugs to you guys!

I absolutely ADORE Dr. Sie - she's just the best, isn't she? I'm glad it went well. Tim had T&A and ear tubes done at age 4 (one of a million sets of tubes) by Dr. Sie too. The afterward wasnt' especially pretty, but there was a funny moment when i caught Tim (next day) in the act of conversing with the dishwasher. May it smooth out for you.....

Oh Max, I'm glad that is all behind you and you are healing. And that your Incredible Mommy knew what to tell the drs. about the "code". She knows best when it comes to you.
