back to school...for both of us!

Maxwell and I will both be returning to school next week. While he will be going back to his developmental preschool, I will be going back to college. I am just taking one class, but I am really looking forward to it.

Applying for school and meeting with my advisor has been an interesting experience. It has been 15 years since I graduated from college and it all felt so new to me. It was quite funny!

My mission is to master American Sign Language. While I have taken a community class, watched a million videos and practiced ASL for the past several years, I still am such a beginner. I have managed to do well with Maxwell and always stayed a few steps ahead of him. However, it is time for me to now truly learn this beautiful language...especially as Max relies on it more and more. Because of my experience, I have had the first required class waived and just hoping I am not terribly behind everyone else!

The class is three hours, two days a week. I have rearranged Max's therapy appointments to hopefully accomodate this schedule change. The only conflict will be Max's surgery later this month and some additional clinic appointments in Feb/March.

Off to school we go Max! :)

Good luck with your new class, I am sure you will do great. It is always wonderful when you can go to school or find a career that involves some of your passions in life. I hope the scheduling works out really well, I wish I lived out there so I could watch Max for you!

Incredible Amy, you will do fine. It's wonderful that you can do this and still take care of Mighty Max. Everything will work out just fine.
Love you two,
Carolyn in Wv

I always wanted to take ASL in school -- for some reason I never got around to it. I think it's very cool that you're doing that for your kiddo, Amy. Going back to school isn't always easy (take it from me!). :)
