our boat outing

This world is filled with such loving and generous people.

This weekend we were blessed by Heart of Sailing. This organization is dedicated to introducing sailing to children and adults with developmental disabilities as a form of educational and recreational therapy.

We signed up thinking we would be in a group, but our boat was reserved just for Captain Mighty Max!

It was an absolutely gorgeous day, and I was so excited! (I was a little nervous that Max wouldn't truly appreciate the experience, but they told me to definitely come anyway.) Fortunately Max did enjoy the first few minutes (even signing "boat" for me!) once we started going and seemed pretty in awe of the whole experience. However, he became a bit cranky (probably because of lack of sleep due to last night's "party")...and I was thinking "uh oh...here we go!" But a PB&J sandwich and a lil' nap in my arms provided great comfort to the lil' guy.

What a wonderful opportunity, and perhaps next time Max will actually stay awake to enjoy the experience! :)

Thank you Captain Ed, Sherry, George and everyone involved with Heart of Sailing for providing such a loving environment and unique experience! We are deeply grateful.

How cool is that! What a great program, it's amazing how many wonderful people are out there that most of us don't know anything about.

When is the first day of school post???

What a great experience, and beautiful scenery! I'm sure the calming waters rocked Max to sleep. I love that he signed "boat" to you too, it sounds like he had a wonderful time!

Yay! That's so wonderful! I'm glad he enjoyed it. Eva waffled between happy enough and skeptical her first sailboat trip but really enjoys it now (not w/this org. Our friend has a sailboat).
