I have been working with Mighty Max on being more self sufficient (as much as a three year old can be "self sufficient"). As much as I love doing everything for him, I also know he needs to learn these basic skills. Some are quite tricky for him, so this will be a work in progress for some time. But along the way, we are having lots of fun learning together! He is so stinkin' cute when he masters a skill...oh my goodness!
One skill is helping with taking clothes on and off. (This sounds easy, but it actually is quite difficult when you lack balance and coordination.)
I'll help him pull his shirt over his head, and then his job is to take it all the way off. Sometimes he gets stuck.
"Look Mommy, I'm doing it...I'm doing it!"
"Uh oh. I'm stuck."
"Mommy (*note he is signing MOMMY to get my help...this is huge!), can you please help?"

Great job Max!! Eva is starting to learn to put her arms in her selves which is HUGE for her. I remember in EI them always asking "does she help dress herself?" and I would always say no and now I can say YES!!!
Keep up the great work Max!!
Hugs,
Crystal and Eva
OK, I hate to admit this since it puts me in the company of a 3-year-old, but I PANIC when I get an article of clothing stuck! If I'm trying something on, and I can't get it off...we're talking flop sweat, hyperventilation, and a couple of tears. I feel ya, Max, because I want to yell "Mommy!" too.
Max you are doing wonderful! Keep up the good work and always remember that you can call on mom!
Max, you are a hard worker and always scratching "things to do" off of you list. You are amazing, My Friend.

Woo Hoo Max!! First the working on dressing - great job!! Then, asking Mommy to help - awesome!! You are one super boy!! Hugs (to you and mommy) - Great birthday present, huh, Amy!!!
I was going to post that boy do I feel silly..but then I saw Laras comment! lol..I panic with sweaters! ugh..they always get stuck, or my necklace gets all stuck and I'm half in half out of my sweater...eeks..
Max, when you get it down pat, maybe you could teach us big kids how to do it right ok? :)
Good job Mighty Max! Good Job!
Oh Max you look so cute. And this reminds me of my Jacob when he was three, learning to help with his clothes. Keep up the good work Amy...Jacob is now able to take off everything (now age 5) and put most things on except socks....(Sock ARE hard!) so even with impaired vision and the balance of a drunk our children with Charge can get these skills!!

LOVE how Max is signing "mama" for a little assistance :-). You're awesome, Max.
