robbery

So today included yet another "bump" on our rollercoaster called life. And what a bump it is...

During the night, someone broke in our house and stole my purse. And in that purse was my wallet (with cash, debit card, license, gift cards and fundraiser donations) as well as the keys to my house and car.

This financial loss is definitely not what we needed on top of everything else.

I have no idea how they managed to get in the window without the nurse or dogs hearing them, but they did. The police came over this morning and said this is common theft in other areas of Bellingham, but this is one of the first they heard this year in our neighborhood. Pretty amazing (and disgusting) to think someone was in our house while we were sleeping. Yuck.

My car had to be towed to the dealership to get new keys made, and my neighbor quickly got my locks changed. (thanks Alan)

Crazy, just crazy. Bank accounts had to be cancelled, since my wallet had deposit slips. And I had to file a lot of paperwork because the debit card was already in full use by the "robber/s."

Tomorrow we have a busy day at Children's (six clinics) so I am just hoping that goes smoothly and the doctors don't discover any new issues. I think I am about at the end of my rope...some good news would be VERY welcome right about now.

Oh No! I think Crystal and Eva said it best when she stated, "when it rains, it pours!".

Amy how horrifying! and maddening. I wonder how they were able to use your debit without your PIN number? We had a break-in at our old home but it was after we'd moved out (but our stuff was still there). I remember feeling SOOO violated, I'd be sick thinking about someone there while we were there. Sending love...

I just can't believe that!!! Maybe this is completely naive, but why don't you run the story in the local paper? Maybe when you mention the fundraiser donations, the robber(s) will feel so guilty that the purse will magically reappear. Something similar to that happened here recently after a church robbery. In the meantime, I'm so sorry! Hang in there!

Oh Amy,

That is so scary. It could of been way worse! I know it seems like it's Murphy's Law. Happens to us all the time. But that which does not kill you makes you stronger. I know you know that. We'll just pray you feel the "strength" sooner than later. Know that we pray for you and Max everynite. We love you.

Love from MO,
Corrie

I am so sorry Amy. Remember, that happened to me last Sept. Cedie was in the living room and had she been awake she would have seen them! I was just so grateful that they left her (& me) alone, just as I am sure you are grateful that Max, the nurse, and you were unharmed.
I know it is such a scary thing. And it is such a pain to have to deal with all the banks, cards, etc. Let me know if I can do anything!

UHHHHHH, I am so upset that I can't see straight. This makes me so mad. I have ADT, maybe you should check on that. Or, just put an ADT sign in your yard, that will scare the thieves off. I am so sorry. I am just sick over this. Just thankful you all are okay.

Love,
Diane and Alex

I am just shocked by this!! I cannot believe someone would do this. I hope they realize just who they did this too and they feel horrible and hopefully give you back your items. I am so sorry you are having to go through something like this.

Dear Amy and Max. I am so thankful you didnt get up in the night. You may have been hurt. I am so glad that your friend gave you some new items. I am so sorry this happened to you. It may be pouring, but we're all still here backing you and Maxwell and loving you both all the time. Even though some of us are miles away!

Amy, I had this happen to me in 99', while I was sleeping. It took a long time for me to feel safe again. If they happened to get any personal information, particularly, your SS number...you should contact all three major credit agencies to add a fraud alert.

I am sooooo sorry this happened to you. How awful.

I'm glad your friend sent you some wonderful replacement items.

Hugs.
