wonder what max is thinking...

There were also a few moments at the park that my heart ached. Maxwell really seemed to be observing the other children moving around so freely. Was he wishing he could do the same?

No sweety, he was plotting to show you on which day he could do what those kids are doing..I seriously believe that. This boy is continuing to teach us what miracles are.

You do wonder what is going through their little minds, but I know Max will be doing all things before we know it. He has climbed mountains all ready. Love you both.

You know, Amy, I used to wonder that about Katie sometimes. But I talked about it with a blind woman who used to do music therapy with Katie and who has a degree in working with children with disabilities, and she told me that kids really don't begin to have a perception of being "different" (if you want to call it that--I really don't like that term, but can't think of what else to use here) until they are about grade school age.

So, no worries--Max was probably just enjoying all the motion and commotion of the other kids playing--which means his social skills are starting to emerge! Yay!

I think he was thinking "wow that looks like fun and if I watch long enough before you know it I will be doing it too" He is one smart little guy and I know he can do anything!!

He was thinking, hum, which kid am I going to play with next time. Umm, not too sure, that one over there is more my size, no, the tall one, not too sure. Oh yeah, that cute little blonde girl over there, yes, she is the one. Isn't she so cute, momma?

Amy, what a wonderful post. As parents, we all wonder at some point or another what is going on in the mind of our children when they aren't able to communicate with us. Also as a parent we all want the absolute best for our children. However, sometimes, we as adults aren't able to understand the simplicity of a child's thoughts. 'Different' is not a concept that we as humans are born with. It is something that is socially defined and we are not introduced to these concepts until we are introduced independently into society.

However, considering the fact that this was weighing into your thoughts on this day, it was a great idea to post it as a blog entry. As I have seen already, you have received such positive feedback which has to encourage you in some way. Keep on keeping on my friend. Max is doing just fine--probably the happiest kiddo in the park that day!

Max is just the way God made him, and that's that! He has the best Mom in the world... a park right next to his house... and a world-wide fan club! I'd say he's a pretty lucky little guy.... :-)
