playground independence

Holy cow! Max and I visited a local park this weekend and he absolutely blew me away! He was so incredibly independent on the playground. What a tremendous, HUGE, amazing milestone! Oh my goodness!

Another little bonus was his reaction to leaving the playground...oh my, oh my. He freaked out. Now while that wasn't enjoyable, it was something new for us. Sometimes he will get upset about ending particular activities...but this was totally different. He was furious and really, really wanted to stay. We went to the playground again today (nice walk - only a mile away), and the reaction was the same. But I just had to smile and check off yet another accomplishment!

He is truly loving this new independence! And so am I!

(And yes, Max is feeling better...yay! Fever is going down and the congestion is only really bothering him a lot night. So we haven't been sleeping much, but our days are good!)

Great to see. No, not pedalling, just scooting his feet across the floor (his balance is so off of course) and standing up on the bike, he likes doing that!

That's a lovely playground btw. We have the same brand verry near us and Reuben just loves that wobbly bridge! Looking forward to the day he's independent too.

Max, you are such an awesome little man... way to be King of the Playground! I'm starting to think there's not much you can't do! I'm glad you're feeling better. Luke cannot wait to meet you at the CHARGE Conference! See ya soon!

Love the collage of Mighty Independent Max! My favorite photo is the one on the bottom row where he's coming down the slide - and his hand is up - so mighty, so Max! Such a happy sight and a milestone I look forward to with Viv, too.

Yay Max! I was watching Eva at the park today in amazement at how she was able to just climb around, go down the slide, etc. without any help from me! Filled my heart with joy. Wonderful Max!

Yay for feeling better during the day!
And a HUGE "yay" for independence, Max!

Something a bit endearing about the "freaking out" when leaving the park, right, Amy?! :-)

We've had some great leaps with budding independence around here, too! Must be something in the glorious summer air!

Congrats to both of you! What fun!

What a big guy Max loving that playground. So good to hear you are feeling better too!

Amy, Do you use a portable oxygen saturation monitor? I'd like to get one for Tommy and wasn't sure if you have one for Max or an idea on a good brand or suggestions.

I love it - it is so great when they gain these steps of independence (although it usually scares me half to death!)...

Way to go, Max...
