yep, it's back again

Yep, the oxygen is back...again. Bummer.

This is one of the very few times I actually got the O2 anywhere near his face for more than a few seconds. He fights the nasal cannula like crazy (even in his sleep) and he moves around too much to keep the mask in place.

He has been on antibiotics for about four days now, so hopefully this latest "bug" will leave soon...and so will the need for oxygen.

Last night Maxwell needed even more oxygen and he is running a low grade fever again. Fortunately we had a nurse, and she was able to keep the mask on him. We got in to the doctor's today and he started him on prednisone (oral steroid to help with his lungs.) He doesn't want him going to school until we get this figured out. I talked with the pulmonary team at Children's today and they reminded me that this will happen with "chronic" kiddos (i.e. children with chronic lung disease).

Hoping tomorrow brings a great day for Mighty Max!

I'm so sorry to hear that you've been sick. I'm confident the oxygen will be very temporary (it was for Evan--we have a very lonely concentrator in our laundry room right now!).

Oh Max, I'm sorry you are so sick. I don't like to see you hooked up to the O2, but... I guess it happens. It is a very bad time of the year for bugs. Hope your mommy stays healthy so she can take good care of you. Glad you had a nurse - you needed the help Amy!

Oh Max,
I am sorry to hear you are sick. What a bummer.

Amy - - I saw your comment on Hannah's blog about the fact that Max learned to draw a circle and came rushing over to read the latest. I am so sorry to read that this is the latest. So... here's my hope that Mighty Max is back to circle drawing super soon!
You hang in there, too, Mama

I hope Max is feeling better soon. I often find myself thinking of you both. The strength that you care with you everyday inspires me to get through my bad days. You seem to see the best in everything that comes your way. I'll be thinking of Max and hope that he gets off the oxygen soon!
