Our meeting went great this morning! And Max was as adorable as ever...and the director was definitely impressed with him! :) He even went to kiss her at the end of the meeting...way to literally "kiss up" Maxwell.
Her plan is to bring in another aide for the other children and designate one of the current aides (who signs) as Max's one-to-one aide. She wants to try this for the first two weeks and then reassess the situation. At that point, we would decide if we need to hire a permanent one-to-one aide or if we could continue supporting him in the class with the current team.
This was good news. She understood that there will be quite the transition for Maxwell and that his communication needs are intense.
She was very encouraging about Max's cognitive abilities, his incredible progress, my parenting role, and our approach to his development. All in all, it was a great meeting! Yay Bellingham schools!

That's great news, Amy! You must be so relieved. There is enough to worry and deal with in our lives without having to fight for your child's rights with the school district. Glad they recognized Max's needs and were willing to meet thm. He'll do great, and you'll be so proud!

Amy, what FANTASTIC news. You are an amazing advocate for MAX.
Praise God for someone that "gets it". HUGE. Good job to momma Amy for sticking with what you want. You are wonderful, and the progress that Max has made is great. The bowling monster pins are so cute... doesn't even look like therapy homework :)
