We went to the fair yesterday and he actually enjoyed the rides. Well, let me rephrase that. HE LOVED THEM! Truly, truly, truly AMAZING! Last year he was terrified of even the merry go round and refused to even touch the horse.
This year, he seemed to act the same way until I got on the horse beside him. Then he thought it was quite fun! Pretty much if I am willing to act goofy, Max thinks anything is great!
He definitely needed support on the horse because he doesn't quite get the concept (yet) that holding on is important. (He doesn't even hold on to me when I am carrying him...which makes it difficult when he weighs 30 pounds and can be a major wiggle worm!) But he did hold on a little...progress is progress!
Here's Mommy willing to be the silly adult to please Max!
Max signing "momma"...for whatever reason he signs it on his cheek instead of his chin. But it still works for me!
(And did you notice him signing "Bill" in the above photo? So cute! Anytime I ask him to look at or for Bill, he immediately signs his name.)
He even did great on the lil' spinning rides.
By this time he was really getting into it...so off they went on the plane!
But when it was over? Oh boy, did he have a meltdown! He pretty much cried after every ride because he wanted "more, more, more." Bill is signing "all done" with him, but Max simply disagreed!
So of course we quickly got him on another ride. He liked it, I hated it. It was a kiddie ride, but it seriously went sooooo fast! I've been told kiddos with CHARGE (because of the dysfunctional vestibular system) can handle crazy rides and now I have seen it firsthand. More power to you Max...but I certainly won't be your ride partner next time!
Pretty darn cool, isn't it? I still am truly shocked with this lil' man. Here he is with a gazillion challenges...yet he still pushes forward wanting to experience life in all its glory. You go Max, you go!!! :)

Prayers are answered and we see one in Max. Wow, what a boy. Now you get to enjoy this precious son of yours just like you wanted a few months ago. Miracles, miracles and more miracles. What a wonderful guy you have there. We love you guys so much.
that's so great Max!
Rides are so much fun hey Max?!!? Now mommy can take you to Disney!! LOL! Maybe if you all come to the conference we can find a place with rides and you and Eva can ride together, she loves her rides.
Hugs,
Crystal and Eva
What a joy! How FUN! Great Pics!
"Here he is with a gazillion challenges...yet he still pushes forward wanting to experience life in all its glory." Put an "s" in front of the "he" and the same could be said about you! You're both amazing.
I love seeing Max so obviously enjoying himself. I'm looking forward to the mini-book that I'm sure will follow.
We can't wait to try Evan on the rides at our fair again this year. Like Max, he was not so much a fan last year. The way Evan has done a complete turn-around with swimming pools and playground equipment, I'm expecting big things :)
Hugs,
Sarah, Jeremy, and Evan
YES!!! A boy after my own heart. Wait, he already has it!!! Well let's just say this.. Max.... you, me, fair, crazy rides, next year.
YAY YAY YAY!!!! I love it and girl, you are in TROUBLE. We took Kennedy to a huge indoor ride place when she was about four and I wondered if she would like it at all. Yeah, the ROLLERCOASTER???? She went on it over and over and over and over. Pack the gravol and get used to it, you're going to be swirling now, Amy!
Looks like you have a great time at the fair, Max!! Katie loves the rides too, but like you, she's not a big fan of the stopping part! :-)
