Tomorrow Maxwell and I head to Children's for a variety of clinics. The one I am most interested in is opthalmology. Max appears to have has pretty good vision but there has been discussion of glasses in the past. Right now his main vision issue seems to be related with his vestibular system. So we'll see. I am also really curious to see if I have been doing ok with keeping his eye (facial palsy prevents him from blinking his right eye) lubricated.
We have been extremely, overwhelmingly fortunate with Max's vision...and I am hoping this blessing continues. The statistics of individuals with CHARGE and their vision are quite alarming...80 to 90% have colobomas. This results in mild to complete vision loss. I still am shocked that he doesn't have this challenge...and I feel for his friends who must deal with both the vision AND hearing loss.
Off we go...I have a feeling it is going to be good news, but we'll see!
