not quite there yet

So last night my friend went to go pick up dinner for us...and when he approached the door, Max oh so sweetly called out "mama" to him. (As he walked out, Max continued to beckon for him.) C'mon Max, seriously...he isn't even a woman and you are calling him "mama"???

And earlier today, he did that when his OT left the room.

So as much as I love his sweet rendition of "mama," it is clear he doesn't truly know that person is me...yet. He thinks of it as a way to call a person back into the room. And yes, that is clever and reaches another goal of purposeful communication...but as a mom, I really want to be known as "mama." You know?

So yep, we got our work cut out for us...silly, silly me for thinking we could check that goal off the list. :) Oh Max, you sure keep me busy!

LOL!! Too cute. My 2 yr old calls everyone (even daddy), "Mommy" or "Mom", sometimes she'll correct herself, but mostly, it's just "Mommy". :-)

When Eva and I are out and pass a man between 20 and 50, she'll sometimes point and sign/say "daddy". "Daddy! Hi, Daddy! Hi, Daddy!" Ah, jeez. The looks we get. "Haha, she's so silly!" but cripes, I wish she'd quit that. It's not like she doesn't know who her daddy is cuz I'm such a floozie!

my now 9 yo called every man in uniform 'Daddy' (daddy is active duty Navy). This was very awkward any time we went on base lolol...
this is a fairly typical kid stage...sort of like calling every snack a 'cracker' (my son did that!)...
He'll figure it out...

oh Max... you are such a sweetheart for trying and providing everyone with a little humor but the day you really mean "mommy" when you say "mama" will be the best day ever!!! in the meantime, keep amazing us all with everything else you seem to be able to do so incredibly.

Maybe since Max calls you "mama" and you take such good care of him, Max thought that since your friend was taking such good care of ya'll by bringing dinner he too was worthy of the highest honor--being called "mama"! Max, buddy, you really are a hoot!!!

Amy, I am so sorry. Its funny how we have to back track our celebrations sometimes. I learned a long time ago that Jayna loses most of her new talents before gaining them again months later. I know in my heart Max will be calling you...and only you.."mama" someday!
