“The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."
Hmmmm....I am starting to think that perhaps would apply for me and my optimistic approach towards Max's health. :)
I think I posted a few weeks ago about taking Max to church and two days later he was sick. Didn't think too much about it so I took him again a week later. Again, he was sick two days later.
So we held back from church for a few weeks...and all was well. In my attempts to make our life more "normal," I thought let's try this again. (My friends and I often tease one another that "denial" is a MUCH needed mechanism tool in the world of special needs!)
Result this time? Yep, sick again...and this one is a doozy. The nights are especially difficult with breathing issues. We probably will head to the doctor's today and perhaps start some meds beyond the inhalers, etc.
Fortunately nothing has developed into anything serious (no need for oxygen yet which is always the big determining factor), but it always pains me to see him struggling.
I know that he needs exposed to germs to build up his immunity, get him ready for school and other future adventures. BUT I think we are going to have to sloooooooow down on the exposure for now. He simply isn't at that point yet.
(Why do I have a strong suspicion Maxwell is going to miss A LOT of school?)
*Speaking of schools, we are making a lot of progress with getting everyone ready for Mr. Max. He starts his developmental pre-school in September and there are a lot of meetings, paperwork, medical plans to square away. I will post about it soon...very exciting!
C'mon Max, let's get really healthy and strong so you can truly benefit from this wonderful program!

I just found out I'm insane. I am devastated.:)
Sorry Max isn't feeling well.

I hope you feel better soon Max!!

Einstein also said: "It is better to believe than to disbelieve; in so doing you bring everything to the realm of possibility." Chin up!! And remember,Bill Waterson, the guy who invented Calvin & Hobbes once said: “It's not denial. I'm just selective about the reality I accept.”
Wise words to live by!!
amy have u ever got his immune system check soemtiems with our chargers its a good idea we have weak imunites
Amy - as you're getting ready for public schools with Max, I wanted to alert you to a resource that basically changed our lives - www.wrightslaw.com. The public school process is going to be really exciting but also full of its own challenges, and I know you're the kind of mom who will want to be equipped to advocate effectively for your child. I would recommend going to this site and ordering their book, From Emotions to Advocacy. It's the Bible for how to deal with the IEP process. Schools will not want to give you what your child needs because of resource issues - even though they can't say that. So you will want to be well equipped. Let us know if you want any guidance or help; we've been at this for several years now and even have a private special education advocate we work with. Good luck though; Max looks like he is making amazing progress!
