In the past few weeks, Max has learned to play with markers! This opens up an entire world of new toy possibilities and fun! We have been working on this for a LONG time, and I have been very eager to see this happen.
Then, he got a sketch doodle toy for Christmas and quickly got the concept of moving the switch to erase the board! An incredibly clever and artistic genius? In my eyes, yes! :) I am showing everyone..."look at what Max can do, look at what Max can do!!!"
So we decided to go on a little shopping binge this weekend and found some super fun activities to enhance this new skill.
My very favorite? AquaDoodle for the wall! YEP! Fine motor AND gross motor therapy at the same time...just perfect for Mighty Max! Plus, he looks so stinkin' cute standing up drawing!
Seriously, it was like a dream come true. I was working on a craft project at my desk and he was standing at the wall drawing. I couldn't stop smiling...and of course I didn't get anything done because my "artist in training" is really adorable and very distracting!
Check it out Mommy, this is awesome!
An artist...hard at work.
Max wasn't thrilled when I tried to explain that the marker needed to stay on the mat...not on the walls. (Fortunately these are only water markers...but I am thinking ahead to when he uses real markers!)
Ok, enough of the pouting. Back to the drawing board...
How fun is all of this!?! :) What a great way to start the new year! :)

Hi Amy,
My name is Danette Baker and I live in the Spokane area. I have been following Max's blog for probably close to a year now but have never left a message. I am not sure exactly where I picked up the address but I do love to scrapbook so it may have been on one of those galleries. I also have spent quite a bit of time at Children's Hospital as a child and now as an adult go to UW for my medical care. I have a condition called Morquio which is a form of dwarfism but also includes alot of other severe disabilities. Anyway, I wanted to tell you that I am so delighted that Max is now starting to get into the world of art. You and I both know how fulfilling that can be and I hope Max will enjoy it as well. I so love hearing about Max's accomplishments and share your joy in him. I am so glad you keep this wonderful blog. I agree he is truly a Mighty Max. I especially delight in how his favorite night time thing to sleep with. I am trached and now am on a bi pap and O2 full time. I have gone through numerous sleep studies and have had multiple monitors around me at night. I am so glad he finds contentment in such a necessary object! The both of you are in my prayers very much and I enjoy learning about Max's new accomplishments every day. Take care. I hope someday we can meet <3
