You know the saying..."a picture speaks a thousand words?"
What do you think Max thought of his first hippotherapy session? Yep, you guessed it...not happy with the idea at all.
The good news was he tolerated being near the horse, but the moment we tried to place him on her...he freaked. He wouldn't tolerate it for even a second.
I got on the horse and walked her around...but Max just looked at me like "go for it Mom, she's all yours."
We also tried sitting on her together, but again Max wouldn't even consider it.
This is sweet Misty. She is so incredibly gentle and patient. I just love her. Wish Mighty Max did too!
In hopes of building the trust and relationship, I have been showing this photo to Maxwell throughout the week.
He was a wee bit more comfortable being around the horse this past session, but there was absolutely no change in his refusal to sit on the horse. They even borrowed a little pony "Big Mountain" for Max to try. Max let it be known loud and clear he wanted nothing to do with it! Oh well, we'll keep trying. :)
We feel so fortunate to have this unique opportunity. It is very difficult to get in this type of program...and there are possible tremendous benefits.
Despite Max's objection to the horse, he and I are very happy with our new occupational therapist. She is so much fun and has wonderful ideas for Max's therapy.
We are incredibly blessed to have such a fantastic therapy team! Truly wonderful!

Those pictures are so cute. I hope Max warms up to Misty soon. We are so lucky to have such great therapist in our lives.
Oh Max, you are soooo cute. Hope you will soon be on Misty. She looks very gentle.

What cute pics!! Come on, Max, just give Misty a little try--we promise you'll eventually love it! :-)

Max in the riding helmet...that is such a cute picture! I'm sure he'll get there with Misty. You have to admit, a big old horse probably is pretty scary to a little punk like Max. Heck, I'm not sure if I could get on a horse! Keep trying!

How cute are you and Misty, I hope you give her a try next time. I so want Eva in hippotherapy, we are going for next year in the summer when Bailey is out of pre-k and I dont have to pay for that anymore.
