What a crazy few days it has been, but I think it was all worth it. I am exhausted right now, but I just wanted to answer your questions really quickly.
1) Yep, Max had the surgery yesterday. Painful but successful. I'm not sure if Maxwell would agree, but the doctors and I are pleased with the outcome. But honestly, the waiting and waiting...and then seeing him in so much pain afterwards was just as difficult for me as the open heart surgery.
It took a lot of people to "pass" him for surgery, but I felt really good that day about moving forward. And fortunately they took my input seriously, and I was right! (Mommy instinct is amazing, isn't it?)
2) The heart tests went fairly well (yay!), but there are still more to be had. His cardiologist wanted Max to have a holter monitor on this week but I thought it would be too much with all his incisions. So we will arrange that for next week. There are a variety of things that could be causing the bradycardia...plenty of detective work ahead. :)
3) We are finally home and ready for a good night sleep. We have a nurse to help us out tonight and I am so grateful!
4) Most importantly, Max is doing pretty good! He is on a lot of heavy pain meds but his wonderful personality is already starting to return.

Thanks for the update. I have been so concerned. Wonderful news that it is over!
Please give Maxwell a kiss from "Auntie" Mary.
Max, you must be recovering so well because you work out so much (all that hiking). Glad to hear you got another surgery checked off the list, no fun, but one more down!
Isn't it nice when people listen to you as a mother, we KNOW our children... there is a sixth sense for sure, and it irks me when people won't listen to it! Like Oprah says, "it starts out as a whisper"... we have to listen to our gut! Good mama!
YAYYYYYYYYYYYY

I have enjoyed reading through recent posts about your life with your son. Ivey has a feeding tube too, along with other 'attachments'. I look forward to keeping up with you.
