This is our first official week of reduced nursing hours for Maxwell. (The funding is not available so they are forced to reduce nearly all case loads.) Fortunately he has been healthy so we have been managing fine. However because of some heart issues, he has needed some attention at night so I just sleep with him in his room.
Apparently he knew I needed some reassurance this week....and he was up for the challenge. I had just picked him up and put him in the bed. He woke up just for a quick moment...just long enough to ever so sweetly sign "mommy" and kiss me!!! AMAZING!
It truly was one of the most beautiful, precious God-filled moments in my life. Tears started flowing immediately (of course), and I just laid there for the next hour feeling so incredibly blessed and praising God for giving me sweet Maxwell. I am so thrilled with the communication he is learning and our bond that deepens every day. Our prayers are truly being answered.

Amy - just wanted to let you know that I am sitting here at work with tears in my eyes reading this! You guys are such an inspiration to everyone. HOW WONDERFUL!! I am sitting here crying tears of joy for you. What an amazing moment for you and for Max. He is making such leaps and bounds. Determination and the love from a wonderful Mommy must be his driving force!!

Max is one smart kiddo. He did know exactly what you needed, just like you know what he needs too. He was just doing what he has learned from example. Absolutely wonderful moment. Thanks for sharing it.
