Below is a posting from a fellow parent (from our CHARGE listserv)...I wanted to pass along. For those of you who have a "typical" child, please try and understand the difficulty and frustration of always having to "feed" your baby through a tube. The commercial might seem funny until you realize some of us have to deal with those IV poles every hour, every day of our lives...and we don't have a choice. Kind of takes away the humor from the commercial, doesn't it?
I am going to call Quizno's today. We would love for you to do the same! Thanks!
Offensive Commercial
Has anyone seen the new Quiznos commercial? There is a guy that walks into an office pushing an IV pole with a bag of fluid hanging from it. He says that he's given up eating. There's another man eating a sub. He says he should give eating another try and the man with the IV pole says "man, I was just going to hang another bag." And then he takes a big bite of the sub.
As a mother of a baby with a feeding tube, I find this commercial very offensive! We want our children to eat orally more than anything. I'm sure that every one of us would give everything we own to make that happen. None of us would chose this lifestyle for our children or even ourselves. The fact that Quiznos would use this in their advertising is unexcusable!
I just called Steve Provo and the Quizno's corporate office. He said that there are not enough complaints to get it taken off the air. Since it only offends a "small portion of the population" apparently our feelings don't matter. (right now my face is hot with anger)
If this offends anyone else Please call Steve and complain. Every time I see this commercial it makes me sick. He said that the people they tested the commercial on thought it was a funny metaphor for having boring lunch choices. Apparently none of those people know anyone with a feeding tube. I don't know about your experiences but Jack's g-tube placement was the most painful surgery he had. I dont think that there is anything funny about it.I'm going to call every day if I have to. Maybe I'll call every time I see the commercial. "the squeaky wheel gets the grease"....right? ?
Please help me to get this commercial off the air!! They are open from 8-5 mountain time and their number is 720-359-3300 Ask for Steve Provo.

I'll do so. Also I want to mention another commercial that I think is entirely offensive.....the car commercial one where they use the word 'Duh"....Is this being too picky? I dunno. It struck me as odd and it still does everytime. I forget the make of car but wouldnt buy one anyway.
Keep up the good fight!

I have never seen the commercial nor have I ever eaten there. However, after viewing it on their web page http://www.quiznos.com/index.aspx, I am amazed that they would use something so inappropriate. I will certainly call and object.
I'll call as well. I haven't seen that yet but that is terrible!
