doing great!

All is good...just really busy. :)

Despite a lot of congestion and possibly an oncoming sickness, Max is doing great. (I slept with him last night and it was interesting to say the least.)

Hopefully he feels better by next week for the CHARGE conference. Just about a week away, and we are so excited!

To sum up the past few days...Maxwell is being adorable, amazing, and simply wonderful! I am astounded how I can love him more and more every day. Some days I feel like my heart is going to explode with love, joy and pride!

He is making some good progress with his sign and speech. Some days he likes to "perform", others not so much.

I am trying to capture him on video saying "GO" (his version of "go") on the slide...it is absolutely priceless!!! I squeal with delight every time he does it and then he gets super excited all over again!

We did an assessment of his delays the other day and that was a bit disheartening. He was much further behind than I expected...even in the social category. But his therapist explained that it was now based on language use, and obviously Max is significantly delayed in that category.

I used to get more upset about the assessments, but I really try and not to worry too much about them. He is making great progress and that is what is important. :)

We have also had a few tiny little heartbreaks out in public recently when people say or look the wrong way at Maxwell. We get a lot of stares when he is using his walker. For the most part, people are wonderful and so impressed with him. I love bragging about his progress. But of course there are always a few families that gawk and whisper. My biggest concern with that is when he gets older. I can only imagine what it will feel like for him to know that people think he is "different." We'll worry about that later. For now, we will keep trying to educate people one person at a time. :)

Soooo....here is one of my favorite pics from this week so far. We were doing bubbles during speech therapy to encourage him to say and sign "bubbles."

(A little secret: He looks like he is winking, right? Nope, just the facial palsy. BUT if you didn't know any better, you would think my kiddo was quite the talented flirt, right? Too cute!)

Oh, Maxwell, you are so adorable. We love you more and more each day, too. No one had better hurt you in any way, shape or form. You are precious and the most beautiful little boy I have ever seen!!!! No wonder your mommy can't get enough of you!!! Ignore those that are ignorant in what you have been through, are going through, etc. You are a walking miracle, and a beautiful one at that. That is what makes you different. We love you sweetheart.

Love,
Diane and Alex

You are so encouraging in all you say, and feel! Max if very lucky to have you as his mother. And, Max - way to go with all your signing, and all your learning.
