birthday boy not so joyful

My sweet lil' birthday boy has had a few rough nights. The night before his party he was having difficulty keeping down his feeds (reflux/vomiting) and then last night he developed a fever. His lungs are not sounding great, and his nurse thinks he probably aspirated from the night before. Today he was acting ok but definitely not himself. Hopefully he will be feeling better soon.

The more pressing issue is that his breathing has become much more labored the past two weeks. It's been very odd. At nights, he maintains his O2 sats but then his heart and respiratory rate soar to compensate. And even during the day, his breathing is quite rapid. The only reason I can come up with is that his nasal passages are narrowing. Fortunately, he already has surgery planned for August, so they could combine those surgeries if necessary. We are hoping to get an appointment with his ENT in the next week or so...but usually it takes months. (However, I can be quite persuasive when it comes to getting help for Mighty Max!)

We'll see. None of this compares to what some of our fellow CHARGErs are dealing with right now, so we are certainly not complaining. Just another day in CHARGE land, that's all. Much more importantly is the health and comfort of our friend, Caleb. Please keep him in your prayers this week.

saying prayers for all of you..I heard the concern in your voice and I was watching him yesterday knowing this boy was not feeling up to par. But he put on a show for all of us didn't he??He has a great example---his mommy..We must entertain the troops. Hugs and prayers for everyone. Love to you.
