WALKING (with my walker)!!! Yep, I'm officially a man on the move these days! I have been making really great progress with my walker...and it is so fun! :)
Mom and I are just thrilled! We brought my walker to my PT appointment on Friday to show off my new skill, and my therapists were very impressed.
They couldn't believe my balance, determination and upper body strength. My PT still wants me to focus on cruising furniture (which I do all the time now and love, love, love!) because that makes you work on your balance more. We practice with me going back and forth between two chairs which requires me to "let go" for a moment. I need to learn how to "let go" for longer and longer periods of time. That is the key in learning how to stand and walk independently.
Such exciting adventures await me!
Just today I took my first outdoor walk. We brought my walker to Aunt Eliz and Uncle Jim's house and showed off to them. They loved it! Then we went to see the Beyerlin gang...and boy were they amazed! :) They even brought out a few of the neighbors to show off me and my new skill.
I walked the long sidewalk in front of their house about 4 or 5 times and it is about 70 feet. That's approximately 300 feet I walked in a matter of 20 minutes or so. Pretty impressive, isn't it?
And check out the video! VERY COOL to see me in action...if I do say so myself! :)

Max,
You have been an inspiration from afar for us. Our little boy Burke was also 9 weeks premature and has similar struggles in life. Your strength and determination are encouraging and we pray our little Burke can follow in your footsteps (literally)! Blessings, Chris (Burke's mommy) wwww.burkenelson.blogspot.com
