Today Maxwell accomplished something that we have been working on for many months...CLAPPING!!! :)
Until recently, he had quite the aversion to his arms or hands being touched or pulled...so clapping, signing, etc. were out of the question.
But we were persistent and sure enough, little by little, we have been making progress in this area. Once he accepted his arms being moved, he learned how to bang toys together...including his musical cymbals. Love that! Then we have been working more and more on the clapping.
And then today, he did it! Woo hoo! :) I was and am soooo thrilled! I have had him do it just about a gazillion times today!
For most families, this probably is not a big deal when their children clap...but it sure is for me. :) I have been waiting for this for a very long time! It is wonderful to watch him applaud himself and be able to communicate that happiness. So incredibly proud of him! YAY MAX!
*There are three particularly funny things about this video.
1) Notice his shirt has food all over it...we just finished a feeding "session" and things got a little messy.
2) It's very rare for Barney to be this close to Maxwell, but he probably smelled the food on him and thought he'd come and check it out.
3) While Max is pretty good at sitting independently, he still loses his balance as evidenced at the end of this video. Sometimes it bothers him, but not today because I think he spotted the famous busy box toy. :)
Enjoy!

Maxwell, I love your video! How exciting that you are clapping and eating. Barney is going to become very close to you now that food is involved. Mommy is soooo clever with having your video in the television. If she could only find a way we, your adoring fans, could hug and kiss you via the internet. Your play room certainly looks fun and educational. I wish I were there to play with you. You and Mommy are amazing.
Love,
"Auntie" Mary
